MAROS – SUARAHAM – The Criminal Investigation Unit and Intelligence Unit of the Lau Police have uncovered a suspected livestock theft case that occurred in Sampobia Neighborhood, Mattirodeceng Village, Lau District, Maros Regency.
In the investigation, police detained four people who are suspected of being involved. They were identified by their initials as MSS alias A (24), AT alias T (39), MAR alias R (18), and J alias J (40).
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at around 2:15 a.m. The victim reported that three of his cows had gone missing after allegedly being taken while they were tied up in front of his house.
Lau Police Chief AKP Syamsir, S.H., said that officers were still questioning those detained and conducting further investigation into the case.
“We are still conducting examinations to clearly establish the sequence of events and the role of each person suspected of being involved. The legal process will be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations,” AKP Syamsir said on Saturday (September 19, 2026).
Based on preliminary findings, the three cows were allegedly sold for approximately Rp8 million each, bringing the estimated total value to around Rp24 million. Police also seized several pieces of evidence, including one pickup truck and three mobile phones.
The four suspects are currently being held at the Lau Police Headquarters for further questioning and legal proceedings.
